The Trump administration has ended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for people from Nicaragua and Honduras , leaving many scrambling to find ways to remain in the United States.
The Department of Homeland Security can designate TPS to nationals of specific countries if the conditions there are not safe.
Hondurans and Nicaraguans have been able to live and work in the U.S. for 25 years.
The Biden administration strongly supported TPS, expanding it to cover about 1 million people. Now, these people can be deported, and their work permits will be terminated if they can't find another avenue to stay in the United States.
