ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is inviting community members to become heroes for shelter pets by attending the League of Volunteers Fair on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Eastside Shelter, located at 8920 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Volunteers play a vital role in caring for animals at AWD, helping with everything from walking dogs and cuddling cats to supporting adoption events and assisting in the clinic.

The Volunteer Fair offers an opportunity to learn about these roles and how individuals can contribute their time and skills to improve the lives of shelter animals.

Attendees can meet and greet animals available for adoption, tour the shelter facilities, visit informational booths showcasing volunteer opportunities and sign up on the spot with ass
