ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Residents of a Rockford neighborhood are opposing a proposed car wash at the intersection of North Main and Auburn Street, citing zoning concerns.

The proposed site for the car wash is currently zoned for residential use only, which has prompted local residents to voice their opposition.

"There's a lot of proverbial balls in the air, but the most important thing is to make sure that your voice is heard," said Alderwoman Dawn Granath, encouraging residents to participate in the upcoming zoning meeting.

The Signal Neighborhood Group held a meeting at Saint Peter's Cathedral on North Church Street on Thursday to discuss the proposal, where strong opposition was expressed by those in attendance.
