SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Late Thursday night, Tiana Mangakahia’s family posted on social media that the former SU star had passed away after a long battle with cancer. Tiana was just 30 years old.

Mangakahia came to Syracuse in the fall of 2017 after spending some time at a junior college in Kansas. She immediately made her presence felt by leading the nation in assists her first year at Syracuse. Tiana led the Orange to 22 wins as a sophomore and 25 wins as a junior - guiding SU to the NCAA Tournament in both seasons. Over the summer before her senior season though, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Tiana would have surgery and then endure eight chemo treatments. She was declared " cancer free"
