A suspect has been arrested after a man was left fighting for his life on a Bolton street.

Officers attended Gibraltar Street at around 4.55pm on Tuesday afternoon (September 9) following reports of an assault .

The Manchester Evening News understands the victim, a 36-year-old man, was hit around the head .

He was rushed to hospital with 'potentially life-threatening injuries', Greater Manchester Police said earlier this week.

In an update issued this afternoon, GMP said a 22-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

He has since been bailed while the victim remains in hospital. Thankfully, his condition is no longer life-threatening, GMP says.
