ROCKFORD, Ill. — Since May of 2025 the Winnebago County Sheriff's office has been part of a pilot program testing Axon's latest artificial intelligence technology, Draft One, that's helping police write better reports faster.
The technology uses artificial intelligence to create the first rough draft of a police report using the audio captured on the deputy's body worn camera.
The pilot program shows that on average deputies save 20 minutes per report, saving hundreds of hours across the entire department.
Deputies can spend several hours writing up 25 or more reports every month, freeing up significant time for them to be productive doing other duties, like making community contacts and traffic stops or patrolling neighborhood streets.
