A pilot was rescued Thursday afternoon after his experimental plane crashed in Chehalis.

The plane went down in a field near the Chehalis River Bridge on State Route 6, the Chehalis Police Department reported .

The 55-year-old pilot was treated by the Chehalis Fire Department before being transported for further medical care.

Authorities stated drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor.

There were no other passengers on the plane.

The incident is being investigated.
