BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The lockdown put in place for Southern University and A&M College after a potential campus safety threat was lifted Thursday afternoon.
The university said all campus activities and classes were canceled for Thursday, Friday and over the weekend. Students living off campus and non-essential employees were told to evacuate campus. On-campus students still have access using their student IDs.
In another afternoon notice to the campus community, law enforcement told Southern that there is no longer an active threat. Security measures have been upped across the entire campus and students, faculty and staff are urged to stay aware of their surroundings.
If anyone sees any suspicious activity, they are urged to call 911.
