The suspect arrested in connection with the shooting of prominent right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk has been identified as 22 year old Tyler Robinson.
Robinson was apprehended two days after Kirk, a 31 year old father of two and ally of Donald Trump, was shot dead at a debate at Utah Valley University. The incident is being described by authorities as a political assassination.
It's reported that Robinson's own father, a former law enforcement official, turned him in.
The news of the arrest was announced by US President Donald Trump on Fox News, who stated that officials have a "high degree of certainty" that the young man in custody is the suspected shooter.
Trump revealed that "someone very close" to the suspect had assisted in his capture, indicating that it was the suspect's own
