Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has terminated an investigation into an incident that resulted in a woman sustaining serious injuries from a fall from an overpass in Dryden.
The incident occurred in last May when emergency services in Dryden received multiple 911 calls about a person in possible distress on the Canadian Pacific Railway overpass on Duke Street.
An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police arrived on the scene and observed a 21-year-old woman standing on the outside ledge of the overpass and facing oncoming traffic. The officer attempted to speak with the woman and persuade her to step away from the railing to safety.
“Approximately 21 seconds after police arrival, the woman jumped from the ledge and landed on the train tracks below,” a statement from the SIU reads
