FARGO — President Donald Trump has approved federal funds that will help pay for more than $11 million in damage caused by deadly June storms in North Dakota.
Gov. Kelly Armstrong announced late Thursday, Sept. 11, that Trump signed the request to declare the June 20 storms a major disaster declaration. North Dakota can use the funds to help pay for debris removal, emergency operations and repairs to roads, public buildings and electrical lines, according to a news release.
“This much-needed disaster aid will help our state’s communities and utilities recover from one of the most powerful summer storms in recent history,” Armstrong said in the statement.
The storms produced more than 20 tornadoes, including an EF3 tornado near Enderlin that killed three residents.
