United Airlines Flight 32 made an emergency landing at Kansai International Airport in Japan on Friday (September 12) after a cockpit warning light indicated a potential fire in the cargo hold. The flight, a Boeing 737-800, was en route from Narita, Japan, to Cebu, the Philippines, when it turned back to Japan approximately 50 minutes into the flight.
According to Newsweek , the plane landed safely around 7 p.m. local time, and passengers evacuated using emergency slides. There were 135 passengers and seven crew members on board. Two passengers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
United Airlines stated, "Upon initial inspection by maintenance, there is no indication a fire occurred ." Despite the fire alert, emergency crews and fire trucks met the aircraft on
