BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- A Mississippi man is back behind bars after police say he stole a vehicle in Baton Rouge just hours after being released from jail.
On Thursday, officers in Slidell received a report about a stolen 2009 Honda Accord from Baton Rouge. The car was located near Home Depot on Northshore Boulevard. Officers found it empty in the parking lot.
A moment later, the suspect, identified as David Callahan from Petal, Mississippi, came back to the vehicle. Officers were waiting and immediately took him into custody.
Slidell police said that Callahan was extradited from Mississippi. He was released from a Baton Rouge jail earlier that morning. Without a way home, he allegedly decided to steal a car.
