The son of a former NFL defensive end, Ezra Ekuban wasn’t allowed to play organized football until he was in high school.
Ekuban’s father, Ebenezer, who played nine years with three NFL teams, including the Denver Broncos, didn’t want to expose the boy to injury and the rough and tough nature of the game until Ezra had time to develop physically.
Ezra, now a 21-year-old defensive lineman at the University of Northern Colorado, took his first taste of tackle football as a freshman at Regis Jesuit in Aurora.
