CLEVELAND, Ohio — Lake Erie anglers are enjoying calmer Lake Erie winds, and the cooler night temperatures lately are bringing schools of shad and walleye that are aggressively feeding on them closer to the Lake Erie shoreline this week.

There will be a bump in temperatures in the coming days, as air temperatures will be in the high 70s and low 80s, and overnight temperatures in the low 60s.

The best walleye fishing from Vermilion to Cleveland has been in the 55- to 60-foot depths. Trolling fishermen are working planer boards and nightcrawler harnesses with double willow leaf blades weighted by 1- and 2-ounce snap-on weights. Dipsy Divers trailing spoons have also been taking walleye and the occasional steelhead trout.
