TODAY's Craig Melvin stepped in to help the Harlem Globetrotters break a Guinness World Record live on air!

Craig joined the legendary basketball team as they attempted to break the record for longest relay passing a spinning basketball with one continuous spin on the TODAY Plaza on Sept. 12.

To break the record, the Globetrotters needed to pass a spinning basketball on their finger from one player to another, with a minimum of six people.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Michael Empric joined the team on the plaza and went over the rules for the attempt.
