Adelaide’s public housing tenants will soon face tougher rules aimed at stamping out antisocial behaviour, with the SA Government introducing new measures to strengthen safety and security across Housing Trust sites.
The SA Housing Trust’s Good Neighbour Policy, launching this month, builds on the existing three-strikes system by requiring tenants who have a substantiated complaint against them to take immediate steps to correct their behaviour. If they fail to comply, they will be referred to the SA Civil and Administrative Tribunal for a conciliation conference. There, tenants and the Trust will work to establish behaviour agreements — but if those are breached, eviction proceedings will follow.
