A Maine man who was found dead last month in a car parked outside South Shore Hospital in Weymouth is being remembered by his colleagues as “the creative heart” of the restaurant where he worked for years.

Declan Perry, 27, was the head chef at the Grill Room and Bar in Portland, where he was known for his “giant warm personality, commitment to excellence, and generosity of spirit,” according to a Sept. 5 post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Perry started working at the Grill Room and Bar as a teenager in an entry-level role and went on to become the head chef.
