A Motherwell woman has been appointed the new chief executive officer of the UK’s only multi-disciplinary Royal College. ‌

Following a competitive recruitment process, Dr Linda Irvine will lead the 425-year-old Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. ‌

Dr Irvine has more than 25 years of experience in senior leadership roles and has previously been the College’s deputy CEO and director of membership and engagement. ‌

Since February 2024, she has been interim CEO, leading the College in achieving greater financial sustainability, growing its global membership and increasing the provision of high-quality education and assessment.
