One of Kilmarnock's most iconic pubs has closed its doors for the final time. ‌

Bosses at the Portmann Hotel said that rising brewery costs made the famous boozer's operations unsustainable. ‌

Due to its close proximity to Rugby Park, the Portland Road watering hole was popular with football supporters before and after matches. ‌

A statement on the pub's Facebook page reads: "It is with great sadness that we announce The Portmann Hotel ( KDA Holdings Ltd ) will be closing its doors effective immediately .

"Due to the current climate and rising brewery costs, it has become unsustainable for us to continue operating. ‌

"This truly marks the end of an era, and we want to thank all our loyal customers, friends, and staff who have supported us over the years.
