FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio (WJW) -- Fairview Park Council President Michael Kilbane has drawn criticism for comments he reportedly made on social media following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a conservative political activist and ally of President Donald Trump.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, a political nonprofit whose mission is to promote "the principles of free markets and limited government" among young people, according to its website.
But critics said Kirk's views perpetuated racist, anti-immigrant and anti-feminist ideas, reported The Associated Press.
"A lot of good people died today. Charlie Kirk wasn't one of them," Kilbane wrote.
