LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A young person was arrested after a gun was confiscated at a high school in Las Vegas Friday.

It happened Friday morning at Cimarron-Memorial High School near Tenaya Way and Smoke Ranch Road in northeast Las Vegas.

In a message to the families of the high school, Colin McNaught, principal of the school, said that Clark County School District police had confiscated a firearm Friday morning, and that a juvenile had been arrested, prompting what he called a “brief lockdown out of an abundance of caution.“

“Due to privacy laws, we are unable to discuss individual student matters, however, this event serves as a reminder that weapons of any kind are not permitted on campus,” McNaught said.
