CLEMSON — Clemson University is condemning online chatter that seems to celebrate the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which has drawn broad criticism from political leaders and Clemson families.

The school, however, has stopped short of firing staff or faculty over their speech.

A statement from the university on Sept. 12 came hours after screenshots of an assistant music professor’s alleged remarks about Kirk’s death started to emerge.

“PATHETIC. NO ACTION TAKEN,” the Clemson College Republicans student group responded on X.
