BURKE CO., N.C. – A cash reward is being offered for information in regards to a double homicide house fire in Burke County last month, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal house fire happened on Aug. 31 on Swink Street. Deputies said two people, 63-year-old Michael Hallyburton and 76-year-old Joseph Byrd Jr., were found dead inside the home.

Deputies later confirmed that the two suffered gunshot wounds at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Now, a $2,000 cash reward is being offered for any information that could lead to an arrest.
