In its first meeting since returning from a summer hiatus, the Paradise Valley Town Council has agreed to enter two new proposed national opioid settlement deals, allowing the town to receive a share of the more than $8.1 billion payout.
At its Sept. 11 meeting, the council voted 6-0 to ratify and approve participation in the Purdue Direct Settlement, as well as the town’s participation in future national opioid settlements, including the proposed Secondary Opioid Manufacturers Settlement Agreement.
The move also authorized the mayor or town manager to complete and execute the forms necessary to take part in the settlements. All required documents must be signed and returned on or before Oct. 8. Council Member Christine Labelle was absent from the meeting,
