Brock University has again expanded its nursing programs, enrolling more students this year than ever before.
This week, the St. Catharines university announced it added 50 openings this year, for students expected to graduate by 2029, with anticipated room to add 10 more spots in years to come.
The university has almost tripled enrolment in its nursing programs in the past five years, bringing the total that started in September to 250 — its largest cohort to date.
But despite that achievement, Ontario Nurses’ Association president Erin Ariss said there’s a long way to go in Niagara and across the province before there are enough nurses to safely care for patients.
