ST. LOUIS — An American Airlines flight to Phoenix returned safely to St. Louis Lambert International Airport Friday morning because of "fumes in the cockpit," the Federal Aviation Administration reported.
The flight, 2574, returned to Lambert about 8:10 a.m. after the crew reported the fumes. The plane, a Boeing 738-800, had been scheduled to take off at 8 a.m.
The FAA said it would investigate and referred further questions to the airline, which has yet to respond to the Post-Dispatch.
The airline's website late Friday afternoon said the flight had been delayed and had been rescheduled to leave Lambert at 4:30 p.m.
