University of South Dakota art professor Michael Hook has been placed on administrative leave and was immediately relieved of all duties after posting on social media calling Charlie Kirk a “hate-spreading Nazi” after the well-known conservative activist was fatally shot earlier this week.

The South Dakota Board of Regents confirmed they've issued an intent to terminate Hook on Sept. 12. Hook also called Kirk part of the “idiotic right fringe.”

South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden and House Speaker Jon Hansen, who is also running for governor, had called for Hook to be fired over the post, and shared his post on social media.
