A public school teacher in Tuscola County has been placed on leave after making an online post related to the shooting death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, according to the district superintendent.

Vassar Public Schools informed parents about the situation in a letter distributed on Thursday, saying the social media comment, which has not been identified by the district, "raised concerns within our community."

"The teacher's comments do not reflect the sentiments of the school district's leadership or the Board of Education," Vassar Superintendent Steve Clark wrote in the letter. "This morning the staff member in question was placed on administrative leave as the district conducts a thorough investigation. We are working with our legal counsel to determine next steps."
