GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – Police say a damaged stop sign led to a crash that killed two people in Northern Michigan.
Michigan State Police in Traverse City responded to County Road 633 near Miller Road in Grand Traverse County’s Mayfield Township at 12:05 a.m. on Sept. 12.
An investigation showed that a white Jeep occupied by two passengers, a 33-year-old female from Northport and a 39-year-old man from Gaylord, was traveling west on Miller Road when it entered the intersection at County Road 633 without stopping.
The stop sign had been damaged in a previous incident and was laying in the ditch, police said.
The Jeep was hit in the intersection by a grey Jeep occupied by a 47-year-old female and a 15-year-old female, both from Copemish.
