The Portland Police Bureau released two videos Friday aimed at reassuring community members that its officers aren’t engaged in immigration enforcement activities , don’t work with federal authorities to detain undocumented individuals, and won’t ask about community members’ immigration status unless it’s relevant to a crime.

Oregon is a sanctuary state, meaning state and local law enforcement are prohibited from using their resources to help federal immigration authorities. The two-minute videos, released in English and Spanish, say the bureau’s mission is protect and serve everyone, no matter their immigrations status.
