PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A body was found floating in the Willamette River near the St. Johns Bridge late Friday morning, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

At around 11:30 a.m., officials said a boater discovered the body in the river between the railroad bridge and the St. John’s Bridge.

After arriving in the area, an MCSO river patrol boat then found and recovered the body.

The body was taken to Cathedral Park and turned over to the medical examiner, who will determine the cause and manner of death, authorities said.

This marks the 15th body recovered from the Willamette this year and the fifth found near the St. Johns Bridge.
