A double shooting in downtown Indianapolis began as a dispute between a bar patron and a bouncer on federal probation for a firearm charge, according to court documents.

At around 2 a.m. Sept. 5, a group of friends went out for drinks at the Saint Shack, an upstairs offshoot of the New Orleans-themed Patron Saint. A bouncer said there was a cover fee of $10 to enter, but another bouncer came over and said entrance was free. The group was allowed in without having to pay.
