MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. - The Willamette National Forest has issued an emergency closure order for the Foley Ridge Fire, forest officials said.
The fire, which began on Sept. 6, is located on the McKenzie River Ranger District. The closure is in effect from Sept. 12 through Dec. 31, unless changed earlier. This measure is to ensure public and firefighter safety. Firefighters will be using heavy machinery to remove hazardous fuels and strengthen fire lines to protect nearby communities.
The Foley Ridge Fire, caused by lightning, spans 249 acres and is visible from Oregon Highway 242. Highway 242 remains open, but drivers should be cautious of increased fire-related traffic. Temporary lane closures may occur.
