Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from southwestern Utah, is in custody as a suspect in the shooting death of Arizona-based conservative activist Charlie Kirk, state and federal authorities said Sept. 12.

A gunman with a bolt-action rifle killed Kirk, the leader of Phoenix-based Turning Point USA, on Sept. 10 as he was speaking in front of about 3,000 people as part of his "American Comeback Tour" at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Kirk died after being struck by one round to the neck.
