The FanDuel sportsbook has agreed to reimburse a hefty sum to the Jacksonville Jaguars following the well-documented ex-employee theft scandal.

Last year, former Jacksonville Jaguars employee Amit Patel was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing $22 million from the team after using a virtual credit card system.

Patel used most of the $22 million to gamble on FanDuel and was later diagnosed with a gambling disorder. A month before he was sentenced in March 2024, the Jaguars asked FanDuel to return roughly $20 million.

According to ESPN’s Xuan Thai and Don Van Natta Jr., FanDuel has agreed to return $5 million of the stolen money to the Jaguars. The report noted that the NFL pushed for both sides to resolve the matter, as FanDuel is one of the league’s premier
