The victim of Friday morning's fatal shooting in South St. Paul has been identified as Matt Lee, a 20-year-old St. Olaf College football player.

St. Olaf Athletics paid tribute to the junior, an economics major who played as a linebacker for the college.

"The entire St. Olaf community is grieving the death of ... student-athlete Matt Lee, who passed away early Friday morning," it posted.

Students at the Northfield college were informed of Lee's death. A gathering led by the College Ministry was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Boe Memorial Chapel.

Lee was killed and another man critically injured in the shooting, which was reported at around 3:45 a.m. at a home on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South in South St. Paul.
