SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Sarasota police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured on Friday.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, just before 6 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of Watts Way.

Police said they discovered an adult male who was injured near First Street and Central Venue. He was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

Three individuals were taken into custody to be interviewed by the Sarasota Police Department.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes if travelling along Central Avenue.
