Millville police mourn officer who died from brain cancer

MILLVILLE — Ricardo Ramos, an officer in the city's police department, died Thursday after a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, the department announced on social media .

Ramos, whose age was not mentioned, grew up in Millville's center city area and was in his 20th year on the police force, the department said. He served as a patrolman, a detective and a field training officer responsible for teaching, coaching and mentoring many officers over his career.

"Officer Ramos performed his duties efficiently and effectively," the department wrote. "He was an informal leader, an asset to the department, loved and respected by many. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered."
