LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - A jury in South Carolina convicted a Rock Hill man of murder after a deadly shooting at the Lancaster Motor Speedway in 2022 , according to Solicitor Randy Newman Jr., for the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
Bryan Mitchell, 40, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for his role in killing Rodney Cunningham following a four-day trial.
Officials said testimony began on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and the jury heard closing arguments around noon on Friday, Sept. 12.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty in just about two hours.
Officials said that Solicitor Melissa McGinnis asked the court to sentence Mitchell to life in prison for his heinous crimes. After hearing from the families of the victim and Mitchell, Judge Vernon Dunbar sentenced Mitchell to 30 years on the murder
