LOGAN – The folk-singing trio the Wailin’ Jennys returned to Utah for the first time in 17 years on Sept. 11 and their performance at the Ellen Eccles Theatre here was well worth the wait.

Despite looking youthful, the female singer-songwriters have been performing together for more than 20 years and easily captivated the nearly packed Cache Valley audience with their signature blend of achingly perfect harmonies, virtuoso instrumental talents and charming, relaxed banter.

The huge Eccles stage was jammed from wing to wing with musical instruments and the Jennys made good use of all of them at one time or another.

Nicky Mehta played the unusual combination of guitar and drums; Ruth Moody performed on guitar and banjo; and Heather Masse showed hidden depths playing the upright bass.
