Ram announced it will discontinue development of an all electric pickup truck.

Instead, the company committed to focusing on a range-extended 1500 pickup truck, offering battery power as well as an internal combustion engine.

The company is taking the name from the now-cancelled Ram truck — the Ram 1500 REV — and putting it on the range-extended Ram, which was formerly called the Ramcharger.

Ram is pulling the plug on its electrified pickup truck.

Initially called the Ram 1500 REV, the fully electric pickup was slated for market in 2024. Then it was delayed until 2025. Then it was 2026. Recently, the deadline was moved to 2027. Now, the automaker has canceled the whole program, the company announced Friday, Sept. 12.
