Clark County School District personnel could face disciplinary action for creating disruptions through public statements, district officials said after controversial comments emerged from multiple employees regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk this week.
The issue of speech, and specifically in the context of Kirk’s death, led to CCSD putting out the memo today on free speech and consequences.
“The First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows district employees to speak freely as private citizens regarding matters of public concern. However, the district has the authority to prohibit or restrict free speech rights of public employees if the speech results in” certain outcomes, the memo said.
