A Riverside Regional Jail officer was arrested Wednesday after allegedly smuggling contraband to a prisoner, according to a press release shared by the jail Friday evening.
Prince George County police arrested Akiylah Taylor, and court records show Taylor was charged with delivering drugs to a prisoner, a felony punishable by a minimum of one year's incarceration and a maximum of ten years.
The press release did not specify what the substances were.
The jail's database shows Taylor was booked into Riverside before being released on Friday afternoon. She is scheduled for a court appearance on Nov. 3.
In a statement, Riverside Regional Jail Superintendent Jeffrey Dillman called Taylor's alleged action a "deeply troubling breach of trust."
