BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- S.B. 237, backed with bipartisan support, would ease environmental regulations and enable more oil drilling, refining, and producing in Kern County.
"This is all part of an effort to address affordability and the price of gasoline and fear that with the potential loss of two of the state's nine oil refineries, of course, that will have a significant impact on the price of oil in the state," said Chris Micheli.
Chris Micheli says this bill will balance the closure of two other major California refineries.
With Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom's support, this is a major change in strategy from past oil production-reducing legislation from Sacramento.
