EAST PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The Illinois Pork Producers Association has a new livestock apprenticeship to train students as Swine Animal Care Technicians.

The program includes five community colleges in Illinois:

Illinois Central College, East Peoria

John Wood Community College, Quincy

Kaskaskia Community College, Centralia

Lake Land Community College, Mattoon

Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield

Students will get paid while gaining some new skills, as they’re expected to work on the farm, offering daily care for the pigs.

The program will also provide debt-free tuition and a livestock certificate after two years.
