I've written before knowing and covering the late Bill Sharman is like peeling layers away as I continue to find out facts about the 1944 Porterville High graduate I never knew before. And I don't think I'll ever stop learning new facts about him.
Thanks to my former colleague and good friend Dave Price I continued to find out more information about Sharman's illustrious journey. He posted some information on Sharman's Facebook page about how two-sport career as a professional basketball and baseball player.
After graduating from USC in 1950 Sharman was offered a $12,000 signing bonus by the Brooklyn Dodgers. Sharman was an outfielder who played on USC's first College World Series champion in 1948 under the legendary Rod Dedeaux.
