BATTLE CREEK, MI – An 18-year-old man is facing multiple felonies in Calhoun County court in connection to a shooting near a local school earlier this week.

Diondre Sanders, Jr., was arraigned Thursday, Sept. 11, on assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and multiple weapons charges.

WOOD-TV reported that the Calhoun County prosecutor’s office confirmed charges against Sanders were related to the shooting, which occurred around 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, close to Battle Creek Central High School, 100 W. Van Buren St.

The Battle Creek Police Department originally announced several arrests on Wednesday as part of the investigation into the incident, though on unrelated charges after contact with multiple persons of interest.
