BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Bath man is accused of seriously hurting an officer after resisting arrest.

According to Bath Police, 39-year-old Frederick C. Valkenburgh was charged with felony assault and several misdemeanors. Police say on September 5th, Valkenburgh was blocking traffic on East Morris Street. Officers told him to get out of the roadway several times and after he refused officers said they went to arrest him, Valkenburgh allegedly resisted.

Police say during the struggle, a Bath Police Officer was seriously injured. The injured officer was taken to the hospital, treated and released but they were unable to return to work.
