CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - One week after Clarksville high school football coach and school resource officer Trey Campbell left a game over concerns that he was promoting his religion while in his official role, community members gathered to hand out bibles before another game.
The prayer event was organized by candidate for Tennessee’s 7th congressional district Tres Wittum in support of Coach Campbell.
“Most recently, I’ve really been talking about placing the Bible in schools,” Wittum said. “It’s very important. I’ve actually been partnering with President Trump to put Bibles in schools. Ironically, at the same time as I’m talking about faith and putting faith in schools Friday night, Coach Campbell was tested in his faith.”
